Re: Next Season- No Europe
It's a no-brainer:

1. European nights will be so much more entertaining than watching us lose at home to the likes of Everton/Newcastle et al. The PL now is a bore fest.

2. The higher we finish the more £'s we earn. £12m-ish for 5th (which is on top of the rest of the PL pot we get). That's enough for 2 Coufals!

I'm not giving up on 4th until it's impossible. If that happens then I'll be looking at 5th. Definitely want to finish above that horrible north london mob whatever happens.

Re: Next Season- No Europe
I would rather see us in Europa with the chance of being in the same group as Juve and teams of that ilk that the Conference League. However, if we end up in that I will also be over the moon.

We are long overdue a few trips in Europe!

Re: Next Season- No Europe
a bang average arsenal got to the europa semis so we should try our best to get in and give it a real go. if the owners don't back moyes with new signings to cope with extra games then it should hasten their departure as well so win/win.

Re: Next Season- No Europe
Robson, that's what the owners seem to do with squad investment usually to get season tickets hence never having a decent one (squad).......and guess what... it's very possible to be our failure and their excuse on qualification this rare season.

Had a great time in Slovenia...don't knock it.

Would obviously prefer Champions League but at the start of the season I would have grabbed your hand off for 7th and a European jaunt.

That hasn't changed.

We can't keep saying "Maybe we'll give it a try next season".

Any kind of europe would be quality for us. Take it when we have the chance! Worrying we'll end up 8th..

Re: Next Season- No Europe
Any European football should be embraced. It's an honour of sorts in this day and age where domestic honours are largely monopolised by the wealthy few, and whilst you can get players without it, it's easier to keep your good players if you can offer it.

As an example Rice wants CL football...but a season in the Europa League which is a big step forward for West Ham may well satisfy him another season or two. It may also be enough to convince Lingard and Soucek to hang about who will undoubtedly have suitors.

Re: Next Season- No Europe
I can sort of see the concern, but just sad to see is this what modern day football is all about?
It should be a sign of success, how good your team are and whatever will be will be if you have a harder next season if you do qualify.
This should also be about getting towards the next level, but if just surviving in the PL is the aspirations for some.
I can only assume this must be a scaredy left thing, the right would always want to have a go, get their juices going with a European tour and perhaps have some great memories thereafter, something to talk about.
Thinking about it, it’s an opportunity for the left to get back into EU countries as well!

Re: Next Season- No Europe
I get what you're saying as I can see us struggling to balance a league season with Europa campaign. However, after the efforts this season we deserve to qualify for Europe. It'll be interesting to see if the form continues next season or was this a one off with some luck, fair wind and due to no fans in the stadium

Yes, I want to see us play in Europe. Even the Conference.

Re: Next Season- No Europe
I would rather see us in the Conference League than the Europa League, to be honest.

We’d have a genuine chance of actually winning some silverware and I reckon there’ll be some cracking away days in places you’d never usually go.

Re: Next Season- No Europe
Yes to European football if the owners take it seriously and genuinely try to win something.

If we don't, it's a dangerous (for our league position) waste of time.

What's the difference between Weds/Sat and Thurs/Sun?

Regular EL or EC qualification would be immense for us.

True Pedro, but we have owners who bemoan the cost of coach travel......

We could do well in Europa league. Easier to win than fa cup.

Yes!

What’s the point of playing in the league if not?

Benrahma is looking anything but marquee. He is like a fish out of water apart from the Burnley game and doesn't look capable of scoring in the Premier League.

Our current (most recent) transfer policy is one marquee signing a promising young player and the rest, end of contract or loans. This may be changed for the worse due to the pandemic and Moyes didn't even get the above but still worked miracles.

The thing is about those great signing is the cunty richer clubs will be keeping a close eye on what Moyes does and he doesn't have a back up market to fall back on like they do.

This is what happens when your club attracts attention on signings and doesn't have the sorts of backing to get round attempts to stifle your progress.

Re: Next Season- No Europe
Need to sign 4 or 5 top players to get a good crack at the top 4 again next season and be lucky with injuries.
